Today more and more people spend time indoors whether it is because of their work or otherwise. That's one of the reasons why we seem so alienated from nature, nowadays and if doctors would have us believe, we are suffering from a lot of chronic diseases because of this very reason. We have knowingly or unknowingly disrupted our circadian rhythms or our body's natural rhythms. But even if we have gone wrong, we can set it right and these are the ways you do just that.
Exercise Outside
While exercising anywhere is always a great idea, it may turn out to be a little tedious always exercising within the four walls of your gym. Instead, try and exercise outside in the sun and try out nature's gym. It can either be running in the nearby park or trying a long trail in your new neighborhood. It is one of the best ways to get your daily dose of vitamin D and your daily exercise. When we exercise outside we enjoy it more and once we start enjoying it we stick to our plans even more. You will also feel a lot more energized after a workout session out in the sun.
Hold Meetings Outside
Have you ever tried meeting your work team under a canopy of trees? Or how about meeting a friend over coffee? How about carrying your coffee outside and sitting down on a patch of grass while you continue to conduct your conversations. If you are conducting a meeting over the phone or having a one-on-one session with someone, just get out of the house or your office and walk around the campus.
When you confine yourself within the room, you get exposed to artificial lighting and also absorb a lot of blue light, this not only strains your eyes but also drains your energy. When you go outside, you not only absorb more natural light but also absorb many colors of nature. The effect of the blue and green of nature as it has a restful impact. They reduce the feelings of anxiousness and are the ideal stress-buster.
Walk Barefoot Outside
You have always tried walking in your shoes before but have you ever tried walking without shoes. We may have tried walking around barefoot in our backyard or grass, or even at the beach but we stopped doing that as soon as we grew up. Well, it is time we started being a kid once again. Grounding or walking barefoot on the grass has unending health benefits as it connects your feet to the earth to absorb the powerful atoms from the earth.
When you are in touch with the electrical charges of the earth, you will feel more in sync with nature. Practice grounding for at least 20 minutes every day. You can practice that in your backyard too. This will also take you back to the golden days of your childhood when you were literally footing loose and fancy-free.
Try Forest Bathing
Quit sitting at your desk in front of the screen during lunchtime, instead venture out and go among a clump of trees. Next, take in your senses as you absorb the surroundings incorporating all five senses. Try to listen to everything happening around you see the beauty of nature outside and try and do it without the interruptions of any gadget. instead of sitting at your desk in front of a screen at lunch, take some time for yourself and go outside and just meander about.
Ensure the walk is at a slow and steady pace instead of a quick pace. Remember you have to be mindful about using all your senses. You can hear the chirping of the birds or the wind rustling the dry leaves. Be conscious of how you breathe. You can also take off your shoes to take the experience to the next level. Even when you go back to your office or at the office and do simple things such as eating, eating mindfully, and savoring the food. Only when you enjoy what you are doing that you get a heightened sense of pleasure.
