Some superyachts remain unknown to most of us because their filthy rich owners choose to build them for personal use only. That’s not the case for Bold, an amazing world cruiser that combines the most luxurious facilities with a highly functional design. One of the recent entries on the market, it can be enjoyed for a short vacation by anyone with a deep pocket. The superyacht was built by Silver Yachts, one of Australia's premier watercraft manufacturers, and is now owned by Guido Krass, who is a German businessman and the founder of the Pari Group.
Silver Yachts was founded in Australia by the European millionaire industrialist Guido Krass and the award-winning world-famous designer and naval architect Espen Oeino. Bold is Oeino’s 50th yacht, built-in 2019, and the fifth that owner and designer both have created under the Silver Yachts banner. Silver Yachts is one of the few manufacturers to support the idea of efficiency and sustainability through smart naval architecture.
Bold’s Operational Design and Functions
The idea of Bold emerged in 2012 when pirates were active in most parts of the world. It is designed in ways that it can function in somewhat economical ways. It consumes less fuel, can carry a helicopter and other heavy objects, and can also reach remote areas.
It accommodates large outside living areas and very comfortable indoor living areas with connections with the outside. It is described as "contemporary, purposeful, and sustainable" – as it is built of aluminum, which is a lightweight material to recycle. The yacht comes with an easily driven hull.
Bold was aimed to have a range of almost 5,000 nautical miles. Based on the first few months of cruising, including plowing through big Indian Ocean waves, the owner estimates it burns between 500 and 600 liters an hour at 16.5 knots. “The sweet spot is around 14 to 15 knots.” But when needed, top speed is more than 22 knots, with commercially rated MTU 16V 4000 M73L engines.
It’s also controlled by a cutting-edge navigation system and cameras, involving an innovative forward-facing underwater camera, which the boat’s captain names “the dolphin cam.”
Bold is a capable explorer and is also a great platform for enjoyment. The central aft deck alone is roughly 34 meters long, from the stairs that go to a bathing platform, to a movie screen included inside a party space that doubles as a helicopter hangar. The aft portion of the bulwarks opens to give clearance for the helicopter landing and create terraces above the water.
Features and Amenities to Enhance the Ultra-Luxurious Experience
The superyacht has a 2,700-liter spa pool, which allows cooling off away from prying eyes. There is also a fire pit and the equipment to put another movie screen. Also, it has a huge bar, disco with a premium sound system and flashy lights, winter garden on the upper deck with an enormous dining area, which can be semi-closed with the touch of a button.
The Jacuzzi on the sun deck, secured by glass paneling is also an amazing part of the yacht. Having a salon is the most surprising facility in the bold. The kitchens are equipped with huge fridges and freezers which are filled with all kinds of eatables and beverages that are enough for more than 5 months.
Bold got everything that a human could imagine. Its ambiance is beyond luxurious. It is decorated with bright color sofas, customized carpets, shiny dining tables, a bold geometrical print under the backlit ceiling, gold-plated accessories, and many other most expensive things in the world to facilitate its guest.
The stairs leading to the common deck are covered with honeycomb-backed marble and an attractive light accent. The builder has used all known tricks to prevent noise transfer through the all-aluminum boat, including dampening materials on floors and bulkheads, floating floors, and soft mounts in machinery spaces. It carries everything to provide comfort, and safety to its guests.
Bold is a True Masterpiece
True to its name, Bold demonstrated what it could do as soon as it left the shipyard. In 2019 – it had its first journey from Perth, Australia, to Sardinia, Italy, in 21 days, for a massive party on deck, with 140 guests.
As one can probably expect, Bold isn’t cheap. According to the Burgess Yachts listing, guests can enjoy its explorer/superyacht capabilities for $966,000 (€875,000) per week.
